Who are we?

Welcome!
Welcome to NorGhaVo, a young non-profit organisation with her roots in Ghana as well as in the Netherlands. We came into existence in 2002, but who are we exactly?  

The origin
The idea for NorGhaVo arose in Ghana. A group of Dutch volunteers and Ghanaian friends enjoyed working on local projects in Tamale. The co-operation turned out to be successful and the modest contribution was much appreciated by the local community. That is why we wished to keep up the wonderful co-operation, even after the return of the Dutch to their native country. We wished to continue the involvement with the local projects and to continue helping Northern Ghana.  Finally, with united Dutch and Ghanaian efforts, NorGhaVo, Northern Ghana Volunteers was born!

The organisation
NorGhaVo works with a staff in Ghana and a staff in The Netherlands. These two staffs keep in close touch with one another and form one team. NorGhaVo Ghana is an official NGO (non-governmental organisation), with Certificate of Incorporation No G-11.277. NorGhaVo Nederland is registered as an official foundation with number KvK 09133002. NorGhaVo-Ghana
NorGhaVo-Ghana comprises three people, who form the executive committee. Besides this, there is a Board of Trustees comprising professionals of various backgrounds from the Northern Region of Ghana. The board guards the plans and programmes of the organisation and advises the staff in Ghana as well as the staff in the Netherlands if necessary.

NorGhaVo-Nederland
NorGhaVo-Nederland (The Netherlands) is composed of eight people. Four of them worked as a volunteer in Northern Ghana before NorGhaVo was established, three were volunteers who travelled with NorGhaVo, and one person was born and raised in Northern Ghana.
