What is it we do?

Our goals
NorGhaVo aims to contribute in a practical and focused way to the development of Northern Ghana , the least developed part of Ghana . We also work to increase the understanding of different cultures and enhance mutual respect. NorGhaVo is a non-profit making organization: co-operators in the Netherlands work on a voluntary basis, staff in Ghana is provided with a local compensation. This way, practically no money remains in the Netherlands.

Our work method
Because NorGhaVo has insights into the local situation and collaborates directly with the locals, we can direct our support very specifically. Also, the familiarity with the region assures a good overview and provides an extensive network. NorGhaVo tries to achieve her goals in three ways: through volunteers, through financial support to three sponsor projects, and through research. See  NorGhaVo in a Word for abrief overview of our achievements.

Sponsor projects
NorGhaVo supplies financial support on a yearly basis to the Adam's Clinic, project SORNEP and the NorGhaVo Nyohini Computer school. The extent of the support depends on the number of volunteers that are active in Ghana through our organization, and the received donations. You can find more information about these projects under sponsored projects sponsored projects.

Volunteer work
NorGhaVo places volunteers with projects in Northern Ghana on a monthly basis. Volunteer work is a great way to put your hands to work in a meaningful way for and with other people. It is also a perfect opportunity to broaden your horizons and to learn from other cultures and customs. We hope that the experience of working and living in Ghana will lead to a lasting concern for the problems of Third World development. You can find more information about the program and conditions, the different volunteer projects and an overview of the costs involved under volunteer work.
