Sponsor projects
Introduction
An important goal of NorGhaVo is to contribute to
the development of
Every year, NorGhaVo donates a certain amount of money to these projects. The sum that is available for donations depends on the number of volunteers that participated in the NorGhaVo program that year and the number and amount of donations by third parties. €50 of the volunteer contribution is directly allocated to these projects, as well as all the money that is donated. At the end of each financial year, the financial status of the organisation will be determined and it will be evaluated whether more finances can be allocated to the donor projects. For an overview of all the donations that have been done until now, please see: donations).

Expenditure
and follow-up
NorGhaVo never pays cash money to her sponsor projects, but instead materials
will be handed over to the projects and contracters for contruction works are
being paid. NorGhaVo
will always make sure that all donations will be handed out the sponsor projects.
NorGhaVo-Ghana is involved in buying the materials or equipment for the projects
so that local prices are paid and the progress of the projects is constantly followed
(see also: donations).
These follow-ups will also be used to keep the communication optimal, create a
basis of reciprocal trust and ensure the continuity of the collaboration. In
short, by placing volunteers, frequent visits and workshops we hope to provide
the basis of trust and co-operation, necessary for the structural aid our
organisation intends to give.

In
co-operation with former volunteer and researcher Ruud van Soelen, NorGhaVo was
able to start their own computer school (see also www.tamale.nl). A large gap exists between the South

School for the Orphans, Needy and Priviliged (SORNEP)
Mr.
Desmond Awaafo Mohammed has come forward with the idea of starting a primary
school for both orphans and children from a privileged background. His ideology
has a found perfect match with the targets of NorGhaVo in terms of mutual
understanding and exchange of experiences. NorGhaVo has decided to aid the
project, both practically and financially. At the end of 2003 the combined efforts
for a development program, a building plan and a financial plan have led to a
expedited start. This planning resulted in the actual start for building the school, for which a nice name still has to be
found. Currently the work is progressing so fast that personnel is on the way to
be recruited and trained for teaching and nursing the children!

In June
2002, NorGhaVo donated the first amounts to her sponsor projects: an amount of

In this scheme is clearly visualised that over time the amount of donated money per year has grown. Furthermore, one will notice that the NorGhaVo staf has managed to even save money on organisational expenditures so that both in 2002 as in 2004 more money could be donated as what was calculated based on received donations plus € 50,- times the number of volunteers (see also the figure below). We would like to extent our warmest thanks to both the volunteers and the donating parties, who are responsible for this warm surprise...

Besides, at this moment we co-operate with the Marnix College in Ede (NL). The project there goes on during the school year 2003-2004 and it does not only include the fundraising by several activities but it is also very valuable because of the mutual respect factor and exchange of culture by students in Ede with their Tamalean counterparts. For more information we can forward you to the Marnix College's website:
