NorGhaVo, founded in 2002, is an enthusiastic, young and dynamic non-profit organisation which roots lay in both Ghana and the Netherlands. Who are we and what do we stand for? The original idea for NorGhaVo arose in Northern Ghana, were a group of Dutch volunteers and Ghanaian friends cooperated in a number of development projects. Since this cooperation was very pleasant and the results were much appreciated by the local community, they wished to continue the successful cooperation! The main goal was to continue to contribute to the development of the region, and to pursue involvement with the local projects. So Northern Ghana Volunteers was born. In this way NorGhaVo originated as a foundation that distinguishes itself from other organisations by fair objectives and personal solidarity with the region. Ghana-the NetherlandsNorGhaVo exists of a staff in Ghana and a staff in the Netherlands, which cooperate closely/intensively. Our motto is therefore: “all hands united for peace and development”. In Ghana the executive committee constitutes out of three persons. Besides that there is a Board of Trustees that supervises the daily duties (operations), monitors the strategic lines and provides both the staff in Ghana and the Netherlands with advice. NorGhaVo Nederland constitutes of five persons: The three founders, a former volunteer and a Ghanaian residing in the Netherlands. Besides that we recently also get help from three other former NorGhaVo volunteers.
