The CADC cannot function without its workers. Below we introduce ourselves: the Ghanaian team and the Dutch workgroup CADC, consisting of five former volunteers.
The Dutch volunteers having worked in Navrongo and are now facilitating CADC:
Alex is the project coördinator for the CADC and staffmember of NorGhaVo-Ghana.
"As member founder, I am involved from the start in NorGhaVo, initially as general director. From 2004 to 2006 I studied at the University for Development Studies (Development Practitioner). Then I came back in Tamale at NorGhaVo. The organization has asked me to start the CADC project. Before this could actually start, I explored the possibilities and what facilities would be needed. Much time has gone into all the preparations, including building a network, necessary for such a project.
I feel very connected to the project and the results have always motivated me. I also consider the project as a group responsibility. Together, we make it possible and I feel proud to belong to that group. The best compliment is that the children ask for computer education at the CADC. I see it as an opportunity for them to develop themselves and we make this possible!
Although we have known difficult times, I believe in CADC. The moral and financial support from the Netherlands is hereby very appreciated."
Charles is computer teacher and facilitator. He was born and raised inNavrongo and since 2008 worked at the CADC.
"For five days a week I work at the CADC. My work is very varied. I teach the introductory classes on the computer, typing, Microsoft, Word and Excel. Incidentally, I also teach other computer subjects. Besides teaching, I have many other tasks. So I make sure the area around the building is clean and that the pupils do not eat or drink take it inside. Furthermore, I take care of the schedule for the lessons and keep the presence and absence of pupils. If a student does not show up, I go to the school of the child to hear what's going on. I try to encourage students as well as possible. Before classes begin, I'm at the centre. Also I do PR work for the CADC. I call people to let them know of the existence of the CADC and to interest them for the lessons. The volunteers who have worked here, I also assisted. Most computer skills I learned at the CADC. I also have classes in Kumasi. "
Macho is the watchman and makes sure that computers, materials and the building are being protected for security reasons.
Saskia is member of the workgroup CADC. She stayed in Navrongo from April until August 2007.
“When I arrived, he CADC building was still empty: no furniture, no computers and no electricity. In May 2007 the first computers arrived in Tamale. It took me about a week to install these slow computers. In June 2007 furniture and computers finally arrived in Navrongo at their final destination. Unfortunately electricity was not available until september 2007. To fill up precious time, I also committed myself to the so-called dropp-out studentgirls in Paga. I tried to have them enroll in regular education again by teaching them mathematics. Quite some job, but also greatful work. Some girls succeeded in finishing school after all."
David is member of the workgroup CADC. He stayed in Navrongo and the CADC from August 2007 until January 2008.
"After Saskia, I was the second volunteer working at the CADC. In september 2007 we really started. A total of seven schools had joined the CADC for ICT education. Together with the team we really made a flying start. The students were excited that they learned to deal with the computer and I had enormous fun they learnt it from me, among other teachers!
After a few lessons the teachers of the students came with the question whether a dedicated teacher-course could be made, as they had no experience of dealing with computers as well! Obviously we developed for them a separate program.
My experiences at the CADC made me decide, once back in the Netherlands, to make a career change. I am doing the Pabo and now give lessons at a primary school."
Tytsia is member of the workgroup CADC. She stayed in Navrongo and the CADC from September 2008 until June 2009.

Peter is our Whiz-kid and is member of the workgroup CADC. He stayed in Tamale and the NCS Computerschool from September 2009 until January 2010. When posslible he came over to the CADC in Navrongo to assist on computer maintenance.
